These reefs near the coast of West New Britain have not been explored extensively. The walindi resort, small but rated as the best dive resort in the world, is the only one in West New Britain. In front of the resort lies one of the best coral reefs with over 50% of the known types of building coral in the world. Marine life is still being studied and counted, but for sure is that the diversity for such a small area is enormous. Volcanic mountains surround the bay and create dive sites such as steep drop-offs and volcanic caves.
Some of the more special types of fish you can encounter here are dolphins and dugongs. But you can see turtles, barracuda's, tuna, staghorn coral, gorgonian fans and much more.
