One of the most popular dive sites within easy reach of Port Moresby is named the Finger. Because of the southern trade winds this dive site is often inaccessible by dive boats, especially in the late afternoon, so check before going there. The Finger is a long coral ridge with white sand at one side and a deep drop-off on the other.

Because of the deep drop-off or wall, you will often encounter large pelagic fish such as hammerhead and grey reef sharks. Manta rays, barracuda, glassfish and big Spanish mackerel are not uncommon as well. The drop-off is covered with sea whips and fan corals.
